Elephants in India are wearing colorful woolen jumpers after villagers knitted the ultra big size garments to protect the animals from the freezing temperatures.

Comfort clothes that are created with love and comfort are like hugs you can carry around. These fortunate elephants truly could not be happier with their comfort, the support of that lucky human being.

A cold weather is underway across northern India, where is located the Wildlife SOS Elephant Conservation and Care Center.

Women in a village near the northern city of Mathura began knitting the colorful, sweater-like garments to protect the elephants Wildlife SOS who have previously rescued from chronic neglect and beatings.

The conservation center currently houses 20 elephants that have been rescued from illegal captivity, trafficking mafia, exploited.

Female elephants are shown wearing clothes that have been designed to cover their legs, back, and neck.

Kartick Satyanaryan, founding the center, added that the elephants needed to be safeguarded from the cold.

“It is important to keep our elephants protected from the bitter cold during this extreme winter, as they are weak and vulnerable having suffered so much abuse making them susceptible to ailments such as pneumonia,” she told the Times of India.

The staff from the conservation center have plans to rescue 50 more elephants in 2017 and hoping to be able to expand the land of the sanctuary.

You can visit Wildlife SOS if you want to buy a blanket for an elephant, or learn about other ways to help.
